Pink Candle Attraction Spell

Also called love attraction candle, draw love candle spell

A simple candle spell to draw love toward you by naming the qualities you want in a partner, not a particular person. It comes from modern candle magic, with roots in Hoodoo candle work and older planetary correspondences for Venus.

The working

  1. On a Friday while the moon is growing, write a short list of the qualities you hope for in a partner, such as kind, honest, funny. Do not write any person's name.
  2. Rub a little oil on the candle from the middle out to the wick, then from the middle down to the base, to 'dress' it.
  3. Roll the oiled candle lightly in crushed rose petals or cinnamon, keeping the wick clean.
  4. Set it in the holder on top of your folded list and light it.
  5. Read the list aloud, then say: 'Love that is good for me, find your way here. Love that is not, pass by.'
  6. Let the candle burn down safely while you stay nearby. Keep the paper afterward in a drawer or under your pillow.
  7. Act on it: say yes to invitations in the following weeks. The spell opens the door; you still walk through it.

Take care: Never leave a burning candle alone, and keep oil-dressed candles away from curtains since they can flare. Do not use this spell on a specific person; aim it at qualities.

Versions across time and place

i

Hoodoo 'come to me' candle

African American Hoodoo · 20th century to present

Rootworkers dress red or pink candles with condition oils such as Come to Me or Love Me and work them over several days. Traditional practice often targets a named person; many modern workers use the same method for 'love in general' or self-attraction instead.

Uses: red or pink candle, condition oil

ii

Venus hour working

Renaissance Western astral magic · 16th century onward

Agrippa's planetary tables tie Venus to Friday, copper, roses and doves, and set love works in the day and hour of Venus. Later ceremonial and Wiccan writers simplified this into the familiar rule: love work on a Friday, ideally in a Venus hour.

Uses: copper coin, rose

Recorded in: Heinrich Cornelius Agrippa, 'Three Books of Occult Philosophy' (1533)

History

Using candle colour to match a goal is fairly modern. Spiritual supply shops in American cities sold coloured and figure candles to Hoodoo and Spiritualist customers from the early 20th century, and catherine yronwode of the Lucky Mojo Curio Company has documented how rootworkers dress candles with oils and herbs and 'fix' them for love, money or protection. Red came to mean passion and pink a gentler romantic or friendly love.

The Friday and Venus timing is older and comes from learned magic. Heinrich Cornelius Agrippa's 'Three Books of Occult Philosophy' (1533) gave each planet its day, metals, plants and purposes, with Venus ruling love and friendship. Writing qualities rather than a name is a modern ethical choice that many witches now follow, since it seeks a fitting partner without trying to override anyone's will.
